Join us for ISB Connect: Muslims in TV & Film  — a networking event for everyone aged 21 - 35 exploring the opportunities and challenges of Muslims working in the media industry.

Learn from Muslim industry experts on:

This is a great opportunity to connect with like-minded creatives, hear insights from industry professionals, and expand your network. Over a lovely hot meal included in your ticket price, you’ll get to meet other like minded Muslims in a friendly and laid back atmosphere.

Specialist speakers

  • Faraz Oman is the Founder and Managing Director of Gold Wala, the award-winning independent production company creating bold, inclusive factual and entertainment formats for young audiences. His work spans broadcast and digital platforms, from ITV and BBC to Paramount and Lumo TV. Faraz currently sits on the Young BAFTA Advisory Group and Learning, Inclusion and Talent Committee and the Children’s Media Conference Advisory Committee, as well as chairing the ScreenSkills Unscripted Development Fund Working Group. Prior to founding Gold Wala, he was Editor of Education at Channel 4 and a lecturer at Goldsmiths, University of London.
  • Nina Karwalska is Head of Operations at Pixeleyed Pictures, a socially ethical film production company specialising in working on film, documentary, campaign and commercial projects. She is also a co-founder of Screen Sisters, an organisation committed to empowering women of faith in the screen industries
  • Raisah Ahmend is a Writer & Director working across Television and Film. One of Screen International's 2024 ‘Rising Stars Scotland’, Raisah has made a number of acclaimed short films, including Meet Me By The Water - premiered at the Edinburgh International Film Festival - and Magda, which premiered at the Glasgow Short Film Festival. Raisah was part of the writers room for S1&2 of We Are Lady Parts, the hit Channel 4 sitcom.
