Title of Talk: Ransomware: The New High Seas Piracy
Description: Ransomware has emerged as a pervasive threat in recent years, wreaking havoc and causing millions in damages across global organizations. Its rampant proliferation shows no signs of slowing down, with a diverse range of perpetrators adopting it as a powerful tool for asset seizure and extortion. From criminal syndicates to activists and even sanctioned governments, ransomware is utilized for various nefarious purposes, including acts of cyber warfare.
However, this threat isn't novel; it draws eerie similarities to historical high seas piracy. In this talk, we will delve into the historical, economic, and geo-political parallels between modern ransomware cartels like DarkSide and Conti and the marauding pirates and privateers of the 17th and 18th centuries, offering insights into the evolution and implications of this digital menace.

Title of Talk: Finally Making Your Threat Intel Useful
Description: Security teams often feel like they're in a losing battle with threat intel. They don't know how to make threat intel useful or operationalize it within their organizations, especially if there isn't a dedicated full-time team. In this talk, we'll help you extract more value out of your threat intel program, giving you an easy win to level up not just your team, but the other teams in your security department. We'll discuss TTPs and how they're a lower-cost way of tracking threat activity groups for most organizations. Then we'll introduce Adversary Detection Pipelines, how they can add value through prioritizing defensive and offensive activities as well as a discussion on the practical implementation of them in any organization. Finally, we'll conclude by sharing lessons learned from over five years of using Adversary Detection Pipelines to support an intelligence driven security program.
