Speaker#1: Daniel Lakier, Field CISO of Myriad360
Topic Title: A Reference Architecture for Protecting against Ransomware
Topic Abstract: In this Ransomware Defense presentation, we’ll talk through a few things that are often missed by other folks. We’ll cover traditional approaches for protecting against ransomware, making sure we can recover and things to think about in 2025. You’ll hear more about specific controls designed to not just protect against modern ransomware, rather to defend its future incarnations as well.
Bio: Daniel has been in the cyber industry for more than 20 years. During this time he has worked in multiple verticals including the energy, manufacturing and healthcare sectors. Daniel enjoys new challenges and as such has enjoyed several different roles in his career from hands on engineering to architectural design.
When Daniel isn't at the office he enjoys working on the farm and chasing his wonderful daughters. He believes that all people have an obligation to make the world a better place for all Children . "Ask yourself: is the world better today because I'm alive did I make it better today … this is not a point in time it is something we have to actively work on each and every day . Our main charge in life is to make the world better for our children. My life Goal is to look back from my death bed and know the world is better because I was part of it that my children and their grandchildren will have a better place to live a better life than the wonderful one I have had.

Title: Quick Intel Brief on North Korean Hacker
Abstract: Hacker methods and techniques are constantly changing, especially those targeting our developer community. This presentation will discuss various methods North Korean hackers use to lure developers and hack organizations.
Bio: Juan Vasquez has 10+ years of experience leading programs, projects, and teams in the Information Security, Cybersecurity, IT Audit, and IT Risk and Controls domains. He has served 19 years in the US Military active and reserve. Currently, he serves as an Information Professional Officer in the United States Navy Reserve specializing as an Information Warfare and Cyber Warfare Officer focusing on offensive and defensive naval cyber operations.
In addition, Juan specializes in Technology Risk and Controls advisory engagements and has supported various clients and organizations in the Financial, Manufacturing, Healthcare, Pharmaceutical & Insurance industries. He resides in Chicago and enjoys spending time with family and working on his agave farm in Mexico.
