Pride and Prejudice 2026 Watch Party

Sun 6 Dec 2026 8:00 PM - 9:45 PM GMT Online, Zoom

Free online event on Zoom

8pm UK (GMT) | 3pm US Eastern (EST) | 7am Monday 7 December, Melbourne (AEDT)

It is a truth universally acknowledged that a new Pride and Prejudice is an event not to be missed.

On 3 December, Netflix releases its new six-part adaptation of Jane’s most beloved novel. A few days later, join us to watch episode one together, then stay for a live conversation about our first impressions.

Your hosts

Caroline Jane Knight is Jane Austen’s fifth great-niece and the last of Jane’s nieces to grow up at Chawton House, on the ancestral estate where Jane lived and completed all six of her novels.

Susannah Harker played Jane Bennet in the 1995 Pride and Prejudice and is the writer of Jane Bennet's Second Spring

Alison Larkin is a writer, comedian and actor, and the world’s top-selling Austen audiobook narrator, with The Complete Novels of Jane Austen.

Susan Moore is a screenwriter and the author of The Darcy List, a witty romantic comedy inspired by Pride and Prejudice.

How it works

  • Book your free ticket. Your Zoom link arrives in your confirmation email, and we’ll send a reminder the day before.
  • Join us on Zoom a few minutes early with Netflix ready on your TV or another device, paused on the start of episode one.
  • On the hour, we count down together and all press play.
  • While we watch (about an hour), chat along with fellow Janeites and the four of us in the Zoom chat. Swoon, gasp, cheer or quibble as you please.
  • When the episode ends, we’ll pause for those who need a quick break. Then Susannah, Alison, Susan and Caroline come on camera for half an hour to share their first impressions.
  • There will be giveaways on the night, so do stay to the end.

A treat for your tea table

Your confirmation email also includes Caroline’s step-by-step recipe for Martha Lloyd’s Orange Almond Cheesecakes, from the household book kept by Jane’s dear friend at Chawton. Caroline will be enjoying them as we watch, and we hope you will too.

What you’ll need

  • Your own Netflix subscription. We can’t show the episode on Zoom, so everyone watches on their own Netflix at home.
  • Zoom on a computer, tablet or phone, ideally a separate screen from the one you’re watching on.
  • A cup of tea and a cheesecake or two, naturally.

One small request: many of us will have resisted temptation and saved episode one for the party, so please keep the chat to episode one only, with no spoilers from later episodes.

Have your say: we’d love to hear what you think. Caroline will share the audience’s verdicts, alongside her own, in Jane Austen’s Niece Weekly Stories the following week.

Will this new Pride and Prejudice be truly, deeply, devotedly worth the wait? Come and find out with us.
