When, in 1919, The Archbishop of Canterbury declared that jazz is the music of the devil and would never be allowed in Britain, he got it sligftly wrong. King George V had a role in The Original Dixieland Jazz band bringing jazz to these shores the same year, their music and its energy, vibrancy and musical excitement, made sure that jazz was here to stay. Manchester Jazz at this concert, re creates the music and the spirit of jazz in 1919, supported by actors telling the full story.
