William B James is a composer and multi-instrumentalist in New York. Robin Hilton, the co-creator of NPR's Tiny Desk Concert series, says in 2025 of Will's "Slumpwick Grummo" project, "I love what they did. It's one of the most original entries we saw and heard and certainly one of the most memorable." Will has been fortunate enough to share the bandstand with several jazz legends including Lee Konitz, Robert Hurst, Benny Golson, and Arturo O'Farrill. Will was a recipient of the 2017 Betty Carter Jazz Ahead award for jazz composition.
