Saxophonist Tobias Meinhart is one of the most distinguished German jazz musicians of his generation. He has lived in New York for more than 15 years, where he has become an established part of the city’s jazz scene. He regularly performs at renowned clubs such as the Blue Note, Birdland and Smalls, and has been named a Rising Star several times in the DownBeat Critics Poll.

At Jazzkeller, Meinhart presents music from his current album, Light & Shadow. Together with Argentinian guitarist Ramiro Olaciregui and New York musicians Sam Zerna and Jesse Simpson, he brings the sound and energy of the New York jazz scene to the stage.

The quartet combines strong melodies, creative improvisation and an infectious joy of playing. At times grooving and powerful, at others open and atmospheric, the music thrives on the immediate interaction between the four musicians and their shared willingness to take risks.
