Paula Bilá with The LEANING IN Underground brings together the passion of South American boleros and the energy of contemporary Latin jazz.

Born in Andalusia and deeply influenced by flamenco, Paula Bilá combines powerful vocals with remarkable emotional depth. Since moving to Amsterdam in 2021, she has immersed herself in the rich traditions of Latin American music, reimagining timeless boleros through fresh, modern arrangements.

Joining her is The LEANING IN Underground, a collective of outstanding European jazz musicians led by guitarist Linus Eppinger. Originally formed during the underground leg of Eppinger’s debut album tour, the band embraced its unconventional identity and has continued under the name ever since. Featuring exceptional improvisers with an unmistakable group sound, they approach Latin jazz with creativity rather than imitation.

Inspired by the spirit of Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers, the ensemble honors the melodies and atmosphere of classic Latin American music while giving every piece its own distinctive voice. The result is an evening of passionate boleros, vibrant rhythms, fearless improvisation, and world-class jazz musicianship.
