Swing’s the thing — and SwingSize is back at the Jazzkeller.

Once a month on Sunday, twelve outstanding musicians bring the sound and energy of a full big band into the intimate setting of our historic cellar. SwingSize Orchestra is our small, great big band: elegant, joyful and irresistibly alive.

Led by musical director Jens Hunstein and featuring the wonderful vocals of Julia van Embers, the orchestra moves effortlessly from Jumpin’ Jive and classic swing to the music of Count Basie, Louis Prima, Ray Charles and Joe Williams. Along the way, familiar songs by artists such as Van Morrison, Billy Joel and Paul Simon are transformed through imaginative arrangements, joined by original compositions and modern big-band sounds.

After a short summer break, SwingSize returns to its Sunday-night home at the Jazzkeller. Come downstairs, order a drink and discover how thrilling a big band can sound when you are sitting only a few feet away.

Twelve musicians. One tiny stage. A very big sound.
