Five distinctive voices, one irresistible swing. Pianist Claus Raible brings his international quintet to Jazzkeller for a Worldstars weekend rooted in bebop, blues and the living tradition of African American jazz.

With American alto saxophonist Brad Leali and British trumpeter Steve Fishwick at the front, the band combines soulful expression, lyrical brass and the rhythmic spark of Raible’s piano. Bassist Miloš Čolović and drummer Xaver Hellmeier keep the music moving with a strong pulse and a responsive touch.

The quintet’s programme, Groove, Grooved, Groovin’, shares its name with their live recording from Munich’s Unterfahrt on ENJA. Raible’s original compositions bring angular melodies, rich harmonies and hard-swinging grooves into focus, alongside Brad Leali’s gospel-rooted Puddin’ Time. Expect close interplay, spirited solos and the energy of five musicians listening and responding to each other in the moment.
