Saturday 10 May 11am - 1.30pm
5.5km / 3.4 miles
Free

Starting at the Lakeside Centre (meet from 10.45am) we will cross Southmere Park and into the Crossness Southern Marshes, to Crossness Nature Reserve, along the River Thames, through the Old Golf Course and returning to the Lakeside Centre. The walk starts and ends next to Thamesmead Social cafe for refreshments and WC.

First of two free guided nature walks with ornithological investigator J D Swann with an emphasis on observation of birds. The walk will be two and a half hours at a gentle pace. These walks are aimed at people who would like to learn about nature in Bexley. Walking in nature together can help discover new aspects of the local environment. J D encourages the participants to bring notebooks, binoculars and cameras so they can make a record of what is seen and at the end we can review what has been seen.

The walk will be going ahead apart from in extreme weather so please wear clothing / shoes appropriate for the weather conditions.
As we are walking in marshland on mainly grass paths waterproof shoes are recommended, there is one busy road which we will cross together. Under 18's must be accompanied by an adult.

Walk 2 will be on Saturday 7 June 11am - 1.30pm through Danson Park in Bexleyheath.

Bexley Wildlife Wanders is supported by Bow Arts and London Borough of Bexley - Celebrating Bexley #celebratingbexley
