Songwriting Workshops

Over the years, I’ve had the great fortune of making records, touring widely, and teaching songwriting in all kinds of rooms — from first-timers to life-timers. I believe that songwriting is inherently good. When I’m able to see the world through a writer’s lens, I’m more curious, patient, and spacious. Things begin to rhyme. I feel connected. The little pink shoe left on a log in the park becomes profound. Waiting in line becomes an exciting opportunity to eavesdrop. Sometimes we have to trick our big productive adult brains into creativity. But in the hundreds of songwriting sessions I’ve led - whether with 4th graders, first-timers, adults in trauma recovery, or seasoned musicians - something magical happens with accountability, low stakes, and 20 minutes.

We hold Stafford's philosophy close, and allow ourselves to actually write. That's where the learning (and fun) happens.
