Data Ethics Club Special Edition
Join us for this Data Week special edition of Data Ethics Club (dataethicsclub.com) where we will show the first 8 minutes of this YouTube video: "How AI could save (not destroy) education", a Ted Talk by Sal Khan, founder and CEO of Khan Academy. We will then split off into breakrooms to discuss various questions on this topic.

It's a great way for joining members to see what a regular Data Ethics Club meeting looks like and learn more about data ethics. It's great for returning members as well to discuss prompts with a broad range of attendees from Data Week!

Dr Nina Di Cara (she/her)
Nina is a multidisciplinary researcher, working at the intersections of digital footprints, mental health, and data ethics research. Her work considers how we can use traces of our digital lives to better understand our mental health and well-being, and importantly, how we can do this in a way that is ethical and privileges the voices and views of the users of new technologies. Nina also co-leads the Data Ethics Club and Data Hazards initiatives which aim to build ethical awareness skills in data science.
Dr Huw Day (he/him)
Huw is a Data Scientist for the Jean Golding Institute and a co-organiser for the Data Ethics Club and Data Hazards Project. Before that he did a PhD in Mathematics looking at patterns in DNA replication at the University of Bristol. His interests are in data ethics, applications of data science to societal problems (particularly healthcare related problems) and educating people in how data science affects their daily lives.

This event is part of Bristol Data Week 2024, organised by the Jean Golding Institute. Running from Monday 3rd June – Friday 7th June 2024, this will be our 7th annual Data Week; an interactive programme of speakers, training and workshops open to all and completely free of charge.
