Building Boys Book Club -- Intro & Chap. 1 Discussion
Thu Apr 25, 2024 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM CDT
Online, Zoom
Description
Raising great guys in today's world isn't easy. And trying to figure out how to support our boys in a society that
a) Misunderstands males
b) Isn't yet convinced that boys need support
c) Is still arguing about masculinity and gender
makes parents' task even more complicated.
So, let's talk about it. Let's unpack what's going on with our boys and work together to help boys thrive!
Building Boys Book Club is a monthly book club led by seasoned parent (& parenting journalist) Jennifer L.W. Fink, mother of 4 sons, co-host of ON BOYS podcast, and author of Building Boys: Raising Great Guys in a World That Misunderstands Males and The First-Time Mom's Guide to Raising Boys: Practical Advice for Your Son's Formative Years.
Join Jennifer LIVE on Thursday April 25, 2024 to discuss the Introduction and Chapter 1 of Building Boys: Raising Great Guys in a World That Misunderstands Males. We'll meet for one hour & discuss:
- Challenges facing boys & their parents today
- Male development
- How gender stereotypes affect boys
- 3 common "pitfalls" -- points of development that are particularly challenging for boys & families
- Starting school
- Tweens
- Teenage years
Most importantly, we'll work together to apply our learning to your current interactions with boys.
This is a unique opportunity to discuss Building Boys with the author (& others who care deeply about raising great guys!).
**Registered participants will receive a recording of our session after we meet**
More about Building Boys Book Club:
- Each month, we’ll focus on one chapter.
- We'll meet via Zoom at the end of the month, where we can meet and discuss the chapter. This meeting will last approximately one hour. I’ll record it too, so interested members who can’t attend in person still get to learn from our conversation.
- Together, we explore how that chapter applies to our current interactions with boys.
YOU DO NOT NEED TO COMMIT TO A YEAR OF CONVERSATION IN ADVANCE. You can simply register for (& participate in) each session as we go. But if you'd like to save the dates, our tentative schedule looks like this:
- April 25 — Introduction & Chap. 1, Learn the Terrain
- May 23 — Chap. 2, Emphasize Emotional Intelligence
- June 20 — Chap. 3, Discuss & Demonstrate Health Relationships
