SOUTH ATLANTIC GROOVE PROJECT (SAGP). Aims to present a different and exciting side of music from South America and Southern Africa that defies stereotypes. Gone is the ‘tropical’ and the ‘smooth’ and in comes the real representative sound of these continents.  Danceable grooves mixed with chord changes and virtuoso improvisation.

The makeup of members who have agreed to contribute to this project reflects these aims:

Andrés Lafone: Uruguayan - MD and Bassist. MD and founding member of hitmakers Negrocan who has played throughout the world accompanying artists like Airto Moreira, Snowboy, Da Lata, John Cleary, Basia, Matt Bianco and others.

Joanna Eden: Renowned Singer pianist, composer and arranger with nine solo albums to her credit. Has lead and fronted bands at Ronnie Scotts, Jazz at Pizza Express, Audley End festival, and in 2025 appeared at the BBC Proms on piano and vocals singing with Sam Smith and the BBC concert Orchestra.

Guillermo Hill: Uruguayan Guitar and vocals. Since moving from Uruguay has established himself as a first call session player and has backed Tom Jones, Mica Paris, Airto Moreira, John Crawford.

Bosco de Oliveira: Born and now resident in Brazil, Bosco is considered to be one of the most influential Brazilian percussionists to have lived and performed in the UK.

Andres Ticino Uruguay: After playing with the Montevideo Philharmonic Orchestra Andres moved to London where he specialised in Spanish Flamenco percussion. He also plays with Brazilian band Alvorada and John Crawford Quintet as well as being a first call percussionist for numerous jazz vocalists.

Fairycroft House has a licensed bar with a range of wines, beers and soft drinks (doors 2.15pm), ample parking and is fully accessible Tickets are also available in person at TIC Market Square, Saffron Walden and Amy Louis Florist, High Street, Saffron Walden.
