En plein air is a French expression meaning “in the open air”, and refers to the act of painting outdoors with the artist's subject in full view. Plein air artists capture the spirit and essence of a landscape or subject by incorporating natural light, color and movement into their works.
During this class we will meet at Trowbridge Creek Zoo and have a lesson about sketching from life. Then you will have the opportunity to go out on your own and find an inspirational landscape or animal to muse.
At 7pm we will meet up for a short discussion or Q&A of the experience and share artwork if desired.
Please bring your own drawing supplies. Sketchbook, pencils, eraser, blending sticks, and sharpener.
If you need supplies I am happy to provide supplies for $5 fee. Please let me know in advance.
You are free to use other mediums on your own.
Bring a snack and water bottle.
Cost: $50 includes admission to the Zoo
This is open to all skill levels, ages teens and up.
