FAQs:
Q - I was lightly traumatised by online learning in lockdown - how will this be different?
A - Jonathan has picked all the great things that we enjoyed from online learning. He will be delivering the course in short, interactive and entertaining lectures. Expect quizzes, videos and lots of (voluntary) audience participation! Other huge pros about online learning are that the classes can be attended from anywhere, money can be saved from not having a venue, no driving in the dark, it's better for the environment...need I go on? We will have a fantastic and enriching learning experience and you can have a front row view (no packets rustling, muttering or pesky mobile phones going off...) Please note - this is NOT an online choir!!!
Q - What dates and times will the workshop be delivered?
The course will take place fortnightly over 5 sessions and your fee will allow you access to all of these sessions. The dates are:
Thursday 11th January - 7.15-8.30pm
Thursday 25th January - 7.15-8.30pm
Thursday 8th February - 7.15-8.30pm
Thursday 22nd February - 7.15-8.30pm
Thursday 7th March - 7.15-8.30pm
Q - How will the course be delivered?
A - The course will be delivered on Zoom - with the same link being used every week. You will also be emailed before every session, so there is no need to search your inbox for lost links...
Q - Will the course be recorded?
A - The sessions will be recorded and sent to you via a link afterwards so you can re-watch or catch-up if you miss a session. These must not be shared amongst others and will be deleted after the final session.
Q - Is there an age limit?
A - This course is designed for adults who are enthusiastic and interested in the varied world of Musical Theatre. Adult themes will be covered! People aged 16-18 are welcome but must be accompanied online visibly by an adult.
Q - What will be covered in the course?
We will be galloping through the exciting history of Musical Theatre, exploring its origins around the turn of the 20th century and investigating what it looks like now. We will celebrate many different creators for the musical theatre stage from Rodgers and Hammerstein in the 'Golden Age' of Musical Theatre, to the technical wizardry (and higher ticket prices) of Andrew Lloyd Webber's pre-millennial era to the modern day with creators like Lin-Manuel Miranda, Michael R. Jackson and Sara Bareilles to name but a few. Expect to learn about how the history of society has reflected what we see on stage, what makes a captivating story and learn some useful vocal techniques as we see how musical styles have evolved (and continue to evolve) over time.
Q - Sound utterly incredible. How do I sign up?
A - Sign up above and make the most of our early bird offer of £45. The price will rise to £50 at the end of 2023!
(This is cheaper than the price of most theatre tickets now - let's be honest...)
Also - when you buy a ticket, you have the option of spreading the payment over 3 instalments.
Q - Who is the course for?
A - It is open to absolutely anyone, but is designed for those who love to watch and listen to musical theatre!
Q - Can I watch with friends?
Absolutely - but you must pay separately. If you were in a theatre - you wouldn't be squeezed into one seat would you?
Q - Can I buy tickets for my friends / family?
A - Yes! I will just need to collect, nearer the date, the email addresses of your invited friends / family so they can join in the fun without having to pester you for the link each week!
Q - What is the refund policy?
A - A full refund will be offered if you request one up to 2 weeks before the start date of the course (the 28th of December).
