Our adventure will be steered by the 8-Shields mentoring model, a holistic approach to expanding our knowledge of place and deepening personal relationships with the natural world. Biophilia! Developed in close collaboration with people of earth-based cultures who hold the highest standard of naturalist knowledge, sensory awareness and connection with all living beings, the 8-Shields model guides us through regenerative culture and joyful nature-connection mentoring. Learn more about nature-based mentoring and the 8-Shields.
⛑️ Safety: We intend first and foremost to provide an experience in which participants can come to realize that nature is Safe, Fun, and to be Respected. The safety of us all is our priority. There will always be an instructor with First Aid Certification in all programs.
🥬 Food: We’ll open our adventure on Saturday with a shared potluck lunch! After that, we’ll feed ourselves with foraged and high-quality, nutrient-balanced, vegetarian meals for the duration of the program from Saturday dinner through Sunday breakfast. We invite you to bring a dish including a vegetarian option to share on arrival. We are driven to support a healthy earth by feeding our bodies with healthy food. We will accommodate your dietary needs when you state them at checkout.
🏡 Accommodation: "When you take civilization on your back, you put a barrier between you and the mother – and then we wonder why we're disconnected from the Earth."† In the spirit of connection, we will minimize our sleep setups, while ensuring safety and wellbeing. Bring your own tent or tarp and appropriate sleeping gear, or sleep in your own vehicle. We'll spend our days and evenings with tall pines, shining acacias and fragrant rock rose. Any questions? Write to us: joshemglass@gmail.com or t.me/deepnature on Telegram.

⭐️ ⭐️ Reviews from past participants⭐️ ⭐️
"The main idea was to spend a different weekend to bond in nature with a program that resonates with our values. We were happy to go on a little adventure, opening up playfulness to learn new games in nature and meet other families that also resonate with this way of educating our children. The experience met our intentions of bonding as a 'newly reconstituted' family with meeting inspiring facilitators in the field! Thank you so much for this wild opportunity which we will highly recommend to others. All the best to you!"

🙋About your guides🤸
Joshua
I'm a deep nature connection mentor for children, adults and families. In 2022 & 2023, I undertook apprenticeship at Twin Eagles Wilderness School (Idaho, USA). I guide youth and families in deepening their bonds to each other, themselves and all life through naturalist skills including fire making, shelter building, primitive cooking, wild foraging, awareness, animal tracking, storytelling and much more. I also had the honor to work with participants in a full gamut of programs including earth-based modern rites of passage for boys, Father-Son wilderness programs, and day-long and overnight wilderness programs for kids and teens. Recently, I completed a cycle as the primary Land Steward for an ecosystem regeneration project in Alentejo, Portugal where I oversaw the reforestation, and tended the vegetable gardens and food forest.
My purpose is to create conditions for modern people to experience deep and direct personal relationships with the natural world and to thrive by surviving within the nature of constant change. I'm currently based in Portugal, working daily with kids at Into The Wild. See and read more from me at joshuaglass.net.
