Rachael Healy: Finding Your Voice In Arts Journalism
Mon 26 Feb 2024 5:30 PM - Sun 3 Mar 2024 6:30 PM GMT
Online, Zoom
Description
Are you inspired by the arts? Do you want to bring new depth to your writing? From comedy and theatre, to film and television, there is always something new to be excited about.
In this brand new workshop, British Journalism Award-winning journalist Rachael Healy gives advice on how writers with an appreciation for the arts can merge their work and interests to develop their unique voice within the world of arts journalism. We’ll cover:
- The breadth of what arts journalism can be – art, comedy, theatre, and more.
- How to bring depth to your writing and find unique angles for stories through reporting.
- How to make contact with editors, find publications that pay fairly, and identifying general space for arts and culture coverage across the media landscape.
- The pros and cons of arts journalism and having a niche, specialist area of focus.
As with all our events, there will also be the chance to ask your own questions both live and in advance.

Live Ticket: Select a live ticket if you'd like to watch the session live. You'll receive a Zoom link to join when you order. Don't worry if your plans change though – we will also send you a copy of the recording and session notes via email. This is normally 24-48 hours after the session to allow time for us to edit the recording.
Watch Back / Recorded: If you just want to watch back, please select a recorded ticket. This allows us to keep a handle on numbers and make sure we have enough seats around our virtual table. Again, no worries if you change your mind, you will still be sent the Zoom link, so no need to let us know if your plans change. You will typically be sent the recording 24-48 hours after the live session, to give our team time to edit.
