How To Use AI To Your Advantage As A Journalist: Saving Time, Finding Work, And Honing Ideas

Tue 1 Oct 2024 5:30 PM - Sun 6 Oct 2024 11:45 PM BST Online, Zoom

This event has now happened, it is now offered as a watchback.

Are you still intimidated by AI? Scared that it may be coming for your writing job? There are many misconceptions about AI, but not all of its capabilities are negative. In fact, there are many ways in which AI can be a journalist's best friend!

In this new workshop, freelance journalist and entrepreneur Vivienne Dovi will take us through her tried and tested methods to get the best usage out of AI — including many capabilities you many not have thought of. We'll cover:

  • How to use AI to generate initial ideas and get your creative juices going;
  • How to use AI to draft pitches in line with what an editor or publication is looking for;
  • How to use AI to sense-check your emails;
  • How to use AI to break writer's block and line-edit your first drafts;
  • How to use AI and your CV to suggest new career paths and opportunities in a fluctuating freelance market.

As always, there will also be the chance to ask your own questions.

Types Of Ticket

Live Ticket: Select a live ticket if you'd like to watch the session live. You'll receive a Zoom link to join when you order. Don't worry if your plans change though – we will also send you a copy of the recording and session notes via email. This is normally 24-48 hours after the session to allow time for us to edit the recording.

Watch Back / Recorded: If you just want to watch back, please select a recorded ticket. This allows us to keep a handle on numbers and make sure we have enough seats around our virtual table. Again, no worries if you change your mind, you will still be sent the Zoom link, so no need to let us know if your plans change. You will typically be sent the recording 24-48 hours after the live session, to give our team time to edit.
