Are you a self-employed journalist trying to get your head around Making Tax Digital? Do you feel nervous about getting your freelance accounts in order before filing your self-assessment, and are concerned about making mistakes?

Join us on Monday, June 22 for a new workshop in partnership with IPSE (The Self-Employed Association) to get up to speed on Making Tax Digital.

We'll be joined by Arjun Kumar, co-founder of Taxd, an HMRC-recognised digital tax platform combined  who can guide you through your tax filings without confusion. In the session, Arjun will cover:

  • Making Tax Digital: do freelancers actually need to worry? (Spoiler: it depends on your freelance income, not your total salary);
  • What has changed since April 2026: quarterly digital record-keeping and what that looks like in practice;
  • What you can claim as a self-employed journalist: equipment, subscriptions, home office, travel and more;
  • Your options for staying compliant: tools that won't take over your evenings;
  • Plus ask a chance to ask questions about your specific situation in our live Q&A.

Plus, if you miss out on the session, JR members will have another chance to ask Arjun about Making Tax Digital on Tuesday, June 23 over on our exclusive members-only Discord community!

Types Of Ticket

Live Ticket: Select a live ticket if you'd like to watch the session live. You'll receive a Zoom link to join when you order. Don't worry if your plans change though – we will also send you a copy of the recording and session notes via email. This is normally 24-48 hours after the session to allow time for us to edit the recording.

Watch Back / Recorded: If you just want to watch back, please select a recorded ticket. This allows us to keep a handle on numbers and make sure we have enough seats around our virtual table. Again, no worries if you change your mind, you will still be sent the Zoom link, so no need to let us know if your plans change. You will typically be sent the recording 24-48 hours after the live session, to give our team time to edit.
