This event is part of JR Grads Club, a new six-month programme designed to help you take your first steps into the journalism and media industry. As well as tailored workshops, you'll get access to 1-2-1 support, job alerts, and much more. Join the club here.
You've found the job of your dreams, but now you need to run the gauntlet of the application process. How should you format it? Will a human actually read it? What should you include? Do we need to talk about AI? In our new, expert-led applications workshop, we'll answer all this and more.
This session will be held in two parts — a short introduction of the basics of a good application by the JR team will be followed by an interactive Q&A with a representative from a leading media organisation. We'll cover:
- The importance of values in journalism job applications;
- The different functions of each part of a job application to recruiters;
- Safety-proofing your application for both robot and human readers;
- Tips and tricks to hone your voice, structure, and give yourself feedback.
This session also includes a dedicated 'Ask Me Anything' Q&A, where you can ask any question that's been niggling on your mind.
