JR Masterclass: Finding and Pitching Non Coronavirus Stories

Thu 18 Jun 2020 6:00 PM - 7:15 PM BST Online

Join Kuba Shand-Baptiste, Commissioning Editor and Columnist at Independent Voices, Freelancer and Freelance Sessions Founder Jessica Evans, and Freelancer and Founder of Lacuna Voices Punteha van Terheyden for our next online masterclass, chaired by Jem Collins of Journo Resources.

In a news cycle where the coronavirus and its effects rightly remains one of main focuses, we'll be looking at why it's still vital to find stories on other topics, with a host of practical tips to use in your reporting.

Our panel will run through everything from what areas they're interested in commissioning, tips and tricks on successfully pitching ideas, and advice on coming up with original ideas outside of the news cycle.

Relevant for both staffers and freelancers, tickets are just £4, and include:

  • An hour-long session from our panel with a focus on practical tips and advice,
  • An interactive Q&A with a chance to put your questions to the them directly,
  • A full resource pack, including recommended reading and resources to follow the sessions,
  • A full recording of the session to watch again at your own pace.

This session will be recorded, and we will also allow for questions submissions in advance – so please do join us even if you can't make it on the night. We also want to make Journo Resources events as accessible as possible – if entry costs are a barrier to you, please get in touch with us on jem@journoresources.org.uk and we can help!
