Every year, thousands of people looking to break into the journalism industry focus on a small number of graduate schemes. But with high levels of competition and very few places available, are they the best route into the industry? This new workshop from the Journo Resources team will combine behind the scenes data from their jobs board, with case studies and practical tips and advice on how to land your first journalism job.
This workshop will give you actionable and practical tips so you can leave with a plan of action, covering:
- An extensive deep live into the alternatives to journalism grad schemes, looking at routes which are often ignored and case studies to show how they can progress into a journalism career,
- An introduction into the key skills you need to successfully apply to journalism jobs, touching on journalism specific CVs, cover letters and job hunting,
- A guide to ideas and experience in job applications – we'll talk you through the overlooked importance of bringing ideas and constructive criticism to your job application to make it stand out from the crowd, as well as how you create your own work experience opportunities,
- An extensive tool pack of resources to help you find future jobs and put together a winning application.

Again, no worries if you change your mind, you will still be sent the Zoom link, so no need to let us know if your plans change. You will typically be sent the recording 24-48 hours after the live session, to give our team time to edit.
