How To Write Engaging Reviews (And Find Homes For Them)

Tue 23 May 2023 5:30 PM - 7:00 PM BST Online, Zoom

Whether it's films, books, TV, or live shows, many of us are guided by recommendations. Whether it's a friend who went last week or a review in a trusted publication, words can often sway whether or not we part with our cash and time. It's a job with a lot of responsibility — so how do you do it right?

In this brand-new workshop from writer, editor, and author Katie Goh, we'll be looking at:

  • The basics of what a good review should cover and include;
  • Tips on writing authentic reviews that engage readers and earn their trust;
  • What to look out for when reviewing performances and how to take notes;
  • Building relationships with commissioning editors and PRs;
  • Finding a home for your reviews and breaking into the field.

There will also be a chance to ask your own questions or submit them in advance at our live Q&A. Every participant will receive a copy of the recording and workshop notes.

Types Of Ticket

Live Ticket: Select a live ticket if you'd like to watch the session live. You'll receive a Zoom link to join when you order. Don't worry if your plans change though – we will also send you a copy of the recording and session notes via email. This is normally 24-48 hours after the session to allow time for us to edit the recording.

Watch Back / Recorded: If you just want to watch back, please select a recorded ticket. This allows us to keep a handle on numbers and make sure we have enough seats around our virtual table. Again, no worries if you change your mind, you will still be sent the Zoom link, so no need to let us know if your plans change. You will typically be sent the recording 24-48 hours after the live session, to give our team time to edit.

** PLEASE ADD TICKETTAILOR TO YOUR SAFE LIST — OTHERWISE, YOUR LINK TO JOIN AND WATCH BACK LINK MIGHT GO INTO YOUR SPAM FOLDER OR NOT BE DELIVERED**
