Junk Drawer & Silverbacks at Ulster Sports Club, Belfast
Fri 8 Dec 2023 7:30 PM - 10:00 PM
Ulster Sports Club, BT1 2BG
Description
Incorporating the imprint of Krautrock, post-punk, and psychedelia, Belfast's Junk Drawer's intuitively loose and idiosyncratic brand of indie rock mines anthems from their crate-digging tendencies. Featuring four multi-instrumentalists & vocalists fluid in their roles, they're driven by the inevitable harmony and discordance that comes from the sibling creative rivalry at the helm, and remain one of the most dynamic, exciting bands you’re likely to catch live. Catch them in their final Belfast show of 2023, after a year that's seen them tour with Superchunk, tour Ireland extensively, and play SXSW, right before they record their second album.
They have won 3 awards at the prestigious Northern Ireland Music Prize, for Best Live Act & Best Video (for 'Railroad King') in 2022, plus Best Single for 'Year of the Sofa' in 2019 (described as a 'slo-mo guitar pop jewel' by CLASH). Debut LP 'Ready For The House’ was released in April 2020, and their latest EP ‘The Dust Has Come To Stay’ came out on March 2022, both via Art For Blind.
They've been featured in Paste Magazine's Irish Acts To Watch, The Quietus’ Tracks of the Month & Albums of the Year, covered by Brooklyn Vegan, Stereogum & Bandcamp, and were added to playlists from the likes of Sub Pop & Spotify’s Fresh Finds, Fresh Finds Rock & Fresh Finds Indie. Junk Drawer have been played by the likes of KEXP, BBC Radio 1 & BBC 6Music, and have shared stages with acts like Built To Spill, Superchunk, Suuns, Temples, Mclusky & Jeffrey Lewis.
