Join us for an evening screening of Allowed to Birth - Journey of a Global Midwife, an independent film exploring the medicalisation of childbirth across the world. At the heart of the film is midwife and educator Kristine Lauria, who is dedicated to supporting women to have safe, respectful births - where autonomy, trust and continuity are prioritised. Filmed across multiple countries, the documentary weaves personal stories with expert voices from the birth world, examining both the value and the risks of modern obstetric intervention.

We're Juno Midwives, independent midwives based in Folkestone, and we wanted to bring this film to our community because we are passionate about birth and concerned about the increasing medicalisation of childbirth without any improvement in outcomes for women, birthing people and their babies. We believe that all women and birthing people should be treated with respect and that they have a right to safe maternity care. 

Independent films like this rarely get the platform bigger releases do, and every ticket helps make sure they can keep being made and seen. Your ticket isn't just entry to a screening -  it's support for independent filmmaking and honest conversations about birth.
