Free Muscle & Joint Health Checks for Dogs - Jen and Claudia (Sat 24 Oct)

Book a free Muscle & Joint Health Check for your dog, with two experts looking at them in the same slot. Jen Holden from Edinburgh Clinical Canine Massage and Claudia Carruthers from CXVC Animal Chiropractic are both joining us here in-store at K9 Active Natural Dog Store, Dunfermline, on Saturday 24 October.
Why two of them?
Jen checks the muscles. Claudia checks the skeleton and how it all moves together. A dog's body works as one piece, so when something's stiff or uncomfortable in one place, they'll often change the way they move to protect it, and that can show up somewhere else entirely. Having both of them look at your dog together gives you the whole picture, and that's not something you often get in one place.
Who'll be checking your dog
Jen is a clinical canine massage therapist and a member of the Canine Massage Guild. She'll work through your dog's muscles by hand, checking for strains, trigger points and areas of tension.
Claudia is a McTimoney Animal Chiropractor based here in Dunfermline, with an MSc in Animal Chiropractic. She's RAMP registered and a member of the McTimoney Animal Association. The McTimoney approach looks at the whole dog, both standing still and on the move, checking for anything that's uneven or not moving as freely as it should. It's gentle and non-invasive, and dogs tend to take to it happily.
At the end, they'll talk you through what they found in plain English.
Who it suits
All breeds, sizes and ages are welcome. These checks are popular with owners of older dogs, active and sporting dogs, and dogs showing signs of stiffness, limping or slowing down. Plenty of people book a perfectly happy dog in too, just to keep them that way.
How it works
- Choose a time slot below. Each check lasts around 20 minutes.
- It's completely free, but booking is essential as there are only ten slots.
- Arrive a few minutes early with your dog on a lead.
- Jen and Claudia will do the rest.
If your plans change, please cancel your booking so someone on the waiting list can have your slot. Jen's days with us book out fast, and there's always someone hoping for a space.
Please note: this is a wellness check, not a treatment or a veterinary consultation. If Jen or Claudia find anything that needs a closer look, they'll advise you on next steps, which may include a chat with your vet.
Any questions? Just ask. Call the shop on 01383 624 127 or message us on Facebook and we'll be happy to help.
