Silent Retreat Day – Unplug, detox & relax
Silent Retreat Day – Unplug, detox & relax
with Buddhist Nun Gen Nyingpo
A day of silence offers a rare opportunity to turn inward, settle distractions, and discover the natural clarity and peace of our own mind.
The meditation on the clarity of mind is part of Sutra Mahamudra (which will be taught on Saturday). Through training in the nature of our mind, we gradually learn to go beyond ordinary, distracted states of mind and experience deeper levels of awareness.
Discovering the Clarity of Mind
Our mind can easily become dominated by thoughts, worries, memories, desires, and fears. Meditation gives us an opportunity to stop struggling with these distractions and instead allow the mind to settle.
When distractions subside, we can begin to recognize something deeper: the naturally clear and peaceful nature of mind itself.
In Sutra Mahamudra, the nature of mind becomes an object of concentration and mindfulness. This meditation prepares the mind for deeper spiritual realization.
“If you realize your own mind you will become a Buddha; you should not seek Buddhahood elsewhere.”
