After meeting and learning from these talented musicians when they visited with Northern Harmony 8 years ago, Kana Kernow (Singing Cornwall) is delighted to host this stunning group 'Heartwood' on their 1st tour of the UK.
Heartwood is a trio of singers and instrumentalists from the US creating new music born from time in wild places. With rich vocal harmonies and inviting lyrics, they create music in collaboration with the natural world and weave songs that invite people to join in the singing.
Heartwood's weekend in West Cornwall has three elements and offers the opportunity to to experience all, one or two of the elements on offer:
- see their their stunning musical - 'The Well Tree' accompanied by a 'Crankie';
- take part in a 3 hour singing workshop let by all three singers;
- hear a full length Heartwood concert.
Heartwood Singing Workshops immerse participants in embodied, joyful, and connected singing, learning original, harmony-rich, accessible songs that grow out of time spent in wild places, all taught in the oral tradition.
The Well Tree is Heartwood's three-person musical, accompanied by a ‘crankie’ - an illuminated, papercut, hand-cranked scroll -- an original 'singing story' about wild journeying and remembering kinship.
A Heartwood Concert is an intimate experience of harmony-rich, folksy music grown out of time spent in and with wild places.
