Who - This event is for anyone sitting the Higher Tier GCSE Maths exams in May and June 2025 and aiming to achieve a Grade 6 or above. Suitable for all exam boards.

Please note that this is a two day event and we recommend that participants attend both days to maximise its impact as we will be covering different topics on each day. However, students can chose to attend just the first day or second day if they wish.

A Description Of The Event

This is a fantastic opportunity for students to get in 10 hours of revision for their GCSE Maths exams within two days over the Easter holidays in an environment where they will be able to learn tips and tricks from a qualified and highly experienced Maths Teacher.

Participants will learn several topics during each day. The topics for the sessions will be selected after careful consideration of all the topics that students typically struggle with the most. Attendees will also be encouraged to provide a list of topics that they would like to learn more about during the revision days; this information will also be taken into consideration.

Due to a much greater emphasis on testing problem solving skills, students will be coached on how to apply the basic understanding of each topic to mathematical problems presented in a variety of different ways, so that by the end of each day they can confidently do this themselves.

Throughout each day participants will be given tips on the best ways to revise for their GCSE Maths exams over the final few weeks.

Topics covered in these sessions will include:

• Recurring Decimals,
• Negative and Fractional Indices,
• Algebraic Fractions,
• Quadratic Equations and Inequalities,
• Quadratic Simultaneous Equations,
• Sine and Cosine Rule,
• Vectors, and many more.

About the Host - Shabbir Kapasi

Having grown up in Newcastle-under-Lyme, Shabbir has a strong connection with Staffordshire. He graduated from Keele University in 2009 with a BSC(Hons) in Medicinal Chemistry and Forensic Science and was later awarded a MSc by Research in Organic Chemistry by The University of Manchester in 2010.

However, his love and passion for Maths brought him back to the subject. He trained as a secondary school Maths Teacher in 2011, receiving a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) from Manchester Metropolitan University and taught at arguably one of the toughest schools in Stoke-on-Trent for 3 years. In this time, Shabbir was promoted to the role of Assistant Learning Director of Mathematics where he was tasked with implementing various intervention programs to help student progress. In order to develop his career, Shabbir moved to a school in Newcastle-under-Lyme and taught there for a further three and a half years.

Shabbir founded Kapasi Maths Tutoring in September 2016 with the belief that bespoke individualised support from experts in that subject can unlock a child's academic potential and transform their learning experience of that subject.

Since then, he has helped hundreds of students from in and around Stoke-on-Trent to fulfil their true potential through 1-to-1 GCSE and A-Level Maths private tutoring, hosting GCSE Maths revision days, and by working with schools across the city and delivering maths intervention programmes to their students.

Kapasi Maths Tutoring now has a team of 13 qualified and highly experienced maths tutors who offer online and in person 1-to-1 maths tutoring to students of all ages and abilities across the city of Stoke-on-Trent and North Staffordshire.

Cost

Tickets cost £45 for each revision day. We recommend that participants attend both revision days to maximise its impact as we will be covering different topics on each day. However, students can chose to attend just the first day or second day if they wish.
