The Embodied Voice One-Off In-Person Workshop
From Somatics to Sound to Song
Join this special one-off in-person The Embodied Voice workshop, happening this spring!
Can we cultivate a healthier relationship with our bodies through singing? Can we discover our authentic voice through allowing the body to speak?
Created by singer, composer, and facilitator Kate Smith, The Embodied Voice is a practice combining movement, voice, mindfulness and improvisation.
In this workshop we will explore how to bring somatics into singing, transitioning all the way from exploring specific movements and poses, to improvising collectively with our voices.
In the first half of the workshop we will focus on cultivating a relationship between our voices and bodies that is grounded in functional movement, creating space and ease in the body. We will learn how to improvise freely from a place of body-mind-voice integration.
In the second half of the workshop, we will connect with each other to co-create in the moment, exploring how movement and sounding together can unlock greater freedom and range of expression.
All bodies, voices, sounds and songs are welcome in this space. You do not need prior experience with movement or voice improvisation. You may like to bring a yoga mat, but it isn't essential. Please wear comfortable clothing you can move in.
Spaces are limited to 8 people.

Testimonial
“I really like the way you present your work, the way you give a very broad view and contextualise the voice in so many aspects of our culture, or our habits, or our emotions. It's perfectly clear that you have a solid and extensive preparation and training, from which you draw to create your sessions, and make them accessible to everyone. I sincerely thank you for your work, it is precious and somehow it lights the way.”
