The Mythic Improv Journey 2026 (Tuesdays)
What is it?
This is not an improv class. Instead, we’ll be using your existing long form improv skills to help you connect with yourself, the rest of the group and with the natural cycles of the year.
The Mythic Improv Journey is a year-long journey of discovery anchored in eight live Zoom meetings throughout 2026. Each session is part self-enquiry with solo and group prompts, some lecture/storytelling around folklore and pagan celebrations and around half of each session will be improvisation; using our art form to dig a little deeper and to have fun while we do.
The dates are based on the pagan Wheel of the Year and we’ll be inspired by a variety of themes, stories, traditions, celebrations and folklore from different sources and belief systems.
All classes are 7-9pm UK-time throughout 2026:
Tuesday 3rd February, Imbolc
Tuesday 24th March, Ostara
Tuesday 12th May, Beltane
Tuesday 23rd June, Litha
Tuesday 4th August, Lughnasadh
Tuesday 22nd September, Mabon
Tuesday 27th October, Samhain
Tuesday 22nd December, Yule
Unfortunately, this course is currently exclusive to those based in the Northern Hemisphere because we’re working with the seasons.
Who is this for?
Improvisers who would like the opportunity to revisit one group over the course of a year, who are interested in self-discovery, group connection and in being present for the natural ebb and flow of a full year. Perhaps you’ve taken a lot of improv classes and now you’d just like to play, or maybe you feel like it's time to experiment, using improvisation in a different way.
If you have never done long form improvisation before, I suggest you try some drop-ins and courses in improvisation and come and join us next time.
Who is leading it?
Katy Schutte is an award-winning improviser, writer and theatre-maker and author of The Improviser’s Way: A Longform Workbook published by Nick Hern Books. She co-founded The Improv Place and was a member of The Maydays for 18 years. She has taught and performed all over the world. She has been teaching improvisation for around 20 years.
Katy has experienced anxiety and depression and finds mythic self-enquiry a great way to learn and grow. She loves community, nature and improv. Katy learned witchcraft in her early 20s in the Alexandrian/Gardnerian tradition and is a practicing Druid, studying the Ovate grade with OBOD. She has an MA in Folklore Studies from the University of Hertfordshire.
The class is limited to 14 students.

Scholarships
There is no application needed for scholarships. Instead, take a look at the financial privilege diagram below. If the middle bottle describes your situation, then you are eligible for part scholarship and if the bottle on the right is more accurate, you can take full scholarship. When the full and part scholarship tickets are gone, they are gone. If you would like the instalment ticket option and there are none left, email me katy@katyschutte.co.uk and I will set one up.
