About me

Hi! I'm Kayla Collingwood. I'm a Paris-based professional classical contralto singer and voice educator from New Zealand, with over ten years of teaching experience. My work integrates science-informed vocal technique, stagecraft, and elements from theatre, movement, and wellbeing practices to support confident, expressive communication. I work with both performers and non-performers, and I'm especially passionate about creating inclusive, supportive environments where individuals can explore and develop their voice in their own way.

Before you book - a few important things to know

Repertoire and materials: Bring something you're currently working on for your coaching session, any genre, any level. Please make sure you have sheet music, or a lead sheet or chords. If you're using a backing track or accompanying yourself, printed lyrics are the minimum required. A piano/digital piano, microphone, and amp will be on-site.

Payment: Full payment is required at the time of booking to secure your place. Places are limited to 20 participants and are allocated in order of payment received.

Cancellations and refunds: Cancellations made more than 14 days before the workshop date are eligible for a full refund, minus a €15 administrative fee. Cancellations made fewer than 14 days before are non-refundable. You're welcome to transfer your place to someone else at no extra cost, just let me know in advance. If I have to cancel the workshop for any reason, you'll receive a full refund.

Accessibility note: Please note that this particular venue does not have an elevator, and access to the space is by staircase.

Health and participation: This workshop involves active singing and physical engagement with your instrument. If you have any health conditions, injuries, or access needs I should know about, please get in touch before the workshop so I can make sure the space works for you. If you're unwell on the day, especially with anything affecting your voice or respiratory health, please stay home. Your health and the health of everyone in the room come first. Refunds in this situation are handled on a case-by-case basis, so please contact me as soon as you can.

Photography and recording: I may take photos or short video clips for use on my website and social media. You'll fill out a consent form on the day, and there is absolutely no obligation. You're welcome to record your own session for personal use.

Code of conduct: This workshop runs on a trauma-informed, person-centred approach, and that shapes everything about how we work together. Every participant is expected to treat others and themselves with respect, curiosity, and care. There is no hierarchy of ability in this room, and critical or dismissive comments directed at other participants are not okay. I reserve the right to ask anyone to leave if their behaviour is harmful to the group experience. In that situation, no refund will be issued.

If you have any questions about any of this before you book, just get in touch. I'm always happy to chat!
