The 9th KCL Strand Film Festival draws to a close with a virtual Q&A screening of YICHU 1.0, a cyberfeminist odyssey through film and RAVE CINEMA, followed by a closing night party.
YICHU 1.0 is a speculative journey into the dissolution of boundaries between physical and digital identity. This work - spanning film, sound, and live performance - follows a female protagonist as she uploads her consciousness into a virtual realm. Blending AI-generated visuals, techno music, and ritualistic storytelling, the project explores cyberfeminism, free will, and posthuman transformation.
We invite you to sit for a virtual Q&A with Yichu Li to understand the discourse and nuances surrounding the use of AI in audiovisual artistic projects, followed by an exclusive screening of her RAVE CINEMA audiovisual live set (DJ/VJ) is where the real and virtual Yichu face off in a symbolic battle for agency and authorship. Drawing from science fiction, Buddhist metaphysics, and underground club culture, YICHU 1.0 invites audiences to question what it means to be human in an era of intelligent machines
The screening will be followed by a DJ set and party journeying through techno-feminist mythologies, and AI-generated visual storytelling.
The KCL Strand Film Festival (25 March - 1 April 2026) is curated by students on the Film Festivals and Film Festival Studies module in the Department of Film Studies at King's College London.
