Apple Pressing with Kilkenny Fruit Tree Project

Bring your own apples and bottles / containers for your juice and learn about fruit tree planting, growing, and watch as your fruit is crushed to make fresh juice to take home! Donations will be taken for a charity selected by the Kilkenny Fruit Tree Project.

The Kilkenny Fruit Tree Project was established by environmental sustainability group, Future Proof Kilkenny as part of the Kilkenny 400 events to highlight the importance of local food. So far 27 orchards have been planted around the city and county.

Remembrance Lantern making 

Sketch, draw or write a message on a homemade lantern for loved ones who are no longer with us. We will bring the lanterns to the river at 5PM for the Samhain Singing and Lantern Procession.

Willow weaving with Heike Kahle

12 - 2PM, €10

This workshop will introduce willow-weaving techniques and culminate in the creation of bird feeders in willow.

Heike has been making baskets since her arrival in Ireland in 1993. She works mostly with willow, a native, strong, sustainable and long lasting material, that she grows organically on her smallholding. Heike started her own business, Baurnafea WillowWorks, in 1996 selling handcrafted baskets, garden structures, lampshades and sculptural pieces. She works part-time as a basketmaking tutor for Kilkenny/Carlow ETB and runs weekly therapeutic basketry workshops for adult with intellectual disabilities.

Palestinian Solidarity Session

1 - 2PM 

Come join us for a solidarity music session to raise our voices and instruments in solidarity with the people of Palestine and to raise awareness of the ongoing genocide and apartheid in Palestine. The more musicians, the stronger the message! 

Folk and traditional musicians, singers, music lovers - all welcome. 

Donations based: all funds go directly to Palestinian-led organisations on the ground in Gaza.
