From Holy Trinity Church in Low Row, the walk climbs up Peatgate, then follows the Corpse Way passing the ‘Dead House’ where the coffins were left overnight while the carriers rested in the inn below. Then on to Blades, a tiny hamlet, where John Wesley first preached in Swaledale. Following this we will visit to the ruins of Smarber chapel, created circa 1690 when Lord Wharton converted part of his shooting lodge into a non-conformist place of worship. Then a walk along the riverbank to Isle Bridge and a visit to Low Row URC chapel which replaced Smarber.
