Reducing the Stigma - Male Role Models and Mental Health

Host:

  • Adam Leydon (Hawksmoor)

Panellists:

  • Andy Aston (BaxterStorey)
  • Pratap Chahal (That Hungry Chef)
  • Bruce Isaacs (Hospitality Management Solutions)

In this candid talk, our three speakers will explore the vital role of mental health and mentorship in hospitality. Hosted by Adam Leydon (L&D Manager, Hawksmoor), the panellists will share their personal stories, discuss how mentorship helped them manage the unique industry pressures that men face and how they now aim to be supportive, mindful role models. Attendees will gain insights into fostering resilience, promoting well-being, and guiding the next generation of hospitality professionals. This discussion continues our aim to further reduce the stigma around Mental Health in Hospitality.

Kelly's Cause is on a mission to create a mentally healthy hospitality industry for all. The money raised from this event will be used to subsidise mental health training for folks in the industry who would be otherwise unable to afford it.

"Great mentorship gave me hope at a time when I needed it the most, when my life became challenging, and I really needed hope & guidance, but more importantly not to be judged.

This period of my life taught me how to stay connected and how to safely communicate when life got tough, it also instilled in me a great sense of purpose when it comes to mentoring & coaching, something that I carry into my every day life encourage to our teams’’

Pratap spent a decade in some very prestigious kitchens and then changed course to take an alternative approach to a career in food. The founded That Hungry Chef, which alongside fermenting all things known to man is now London's longest running, and most dearly beloved, supper club. A recipe & product developer and private chef - Pratap's focus on pure unbridled hospitality is truly inspiring.
