The performance Shining Beacon is a collaboration between Connor Voss and Rebecca Patek, which combines documentary, dance and medicine to help you decalcify your pineal gland and power a revolutionary new art program in upstate New York. This performance follows their research journey which began at the Shining Beacon Arts Residency (SBAR), a program within the Target Department Store, to help artists realize their true potential within a retail environment. Whether you are an artist, a scientist, a doctor, or a retail worker, you too can find a home within Shining Beacon (SBAR).

Bios

Rebecca Patek has created over twenty original performances. She was an Artist in Residence at Movement Research, Atlantic Center for the Arts and New York Live Arts (Fresh Tracks). Her work was presented at MoMa PS1, The Kitchen, Impulstanz Vienna (Prix Jardin D’Europe Fan Award 2014), Museum of Arts and Design, Chocolate Factory Theater, Abrons Art Center, Dance Theater Workshop, MR at Judson Church, BAX, Triple Canopy, Prelude Festival, Performance Mix Festival, and Dixon Place

David Pym is a filmmaker, video designer, and AI artist. He creates films, stage visuals, and digital art with AI. Recent projects as video designer: Suppose Beautiful Madeline Harvey (Object Collection, LaMaMa), The Lydian Gale Parr (dir. Meghan Finn, Target Margin), Atlas Drugged (The Builders Association, Skirball Center). He shares daily AI art at www.instagram.com/drphyllotaxis

Connor Voss has been called "elfin and placid, almost alien-like" (New Yorker), "a constructivist swan queen" (Financial Times) and "not unlike Andy Kaufman" (New York Times). Voss has created work for CPR, Movement Research, Open Look Festival, Gibney Dance Center, Cathy Weis Studios, The Invisible Dog, The Brick, Abrons Arts Center and Dance Place. He has danced in original work by RoseAnne Spradlin, Kota Yamazaki, Heather Kravas, Juliana May, Mina Nishimura, Vanessa Anspaugh, Neil Greenberg, and Miguel Gutierrez. Performance work with Greenberg and Anspaugh was nominated for New York Dance and Performance “Bessie” Awards.
