KHANDID.STUDIO X RESCUED CLAY
PRESENTS
Join us for a special wellbeing workshop – running every Thursday evening in June and July – and discover the quiet beauty of Hikaru Dorodango, the Japanese art of transforming simple mud into a polished sphere that shines like marble. The word Dorodango translates to “mud dumpling.”
The practice began in Japan as a childhood pastime and has evolved into a mindful art form admired around the world. It invites us to slow down, connect with the earth, and find calm through patient, meditative practice.
This session will be hosted by Khandiz Joni, a local artist who helps organisations and individuals explore wellbeing-centred approaches through design, facilitation, and nature-led experimentation. This project is run in partnership Rescued Clay, a circularity project that collects and reclaims discarded clay from construction sites, giving it new life through storytelling, art, and community collaboration.
Together, we will reshape this discarded material into objects that hold the memory of land, ourselves, and each other.
What to Expect
During this two-hour hands-on workshop, you will:
- Learn about the Rescued Clay project, including how waste clay is recovered and processed by hand.
- Practice mindfulness in community.
- Create your own Dorodango from HS2-rescued clay to take home through a 3 stage process
