Transitions

Thursday 22 October 2026 | 5-8pm (online via Zoom)

Starting a new school, moving between classes, or preparing for adulthood can be exciting milestones. But for many neurodivergent children, transitions can also bring significant anxiety, uncertainty, and overwhelm. Understanding why transitions can be challenging is key to helping children to feel safe and confident.

Who is this training for?

This training is designed for parents, carers, and family members, as well as professionals working with neurodivergent children and young people in educational settings like schools.

It is suitable for anyone supporting neurodivergent children and young people, whether in a personal or school-based role.

What you’ll learn:

  • Why transitions can be particularly difficult for autistic children and young people with ADHD
  • The impact of sensory processing, executive functioning, and emotional regulation on change
  • Practical strategies to reduce anxiety, increase regulation and to build confidence, and resilience in children and young people.
  • How schools and families can work together to create smoother, more successful transitions

Using examples, reflection activities, and resources, by the end of the session, you'll leave with a toolkit of strategies to support neurodivergent children navigate change with greater confidence and emotional wellbeing.

Please note: Due to the sensitive and confidential nature of this training, sessions will not be recorded.
