Autistic presentation and diagnosis in girls and women
Thursday 21 January 2027 | 5-8pm (online via Zoom)
Delivered by Kids Inspire therapists, Jasmine and Vicky
Autistic girls and women have for many years been overlooked and underdiagnosed, leading to misdiagnoses, missed opportunities to access appropriate and timely support and therefore fewer opportunities for fostering and developing self-understanding.
Traits often present differently in women and girls and as such do not always follow the stereotypical autistic traits often picked up earlier in males.
Who is this training for?
This training is designed for professionals working with neurodivergent children and young people in a range of settings, including schools, health, social care, voluntary sector and therapeutic services.
It is intended for those supporting children and young people in any professional capacity.
What you’ll learn:
- why autism is so often overlooked in girls and women and explore the key differences in presentations in the male / female binary
- how we can approach assessment and diagnosis through a gender sensitive lens
- how to support families who are trying to access support and the barriers they may experience
Participants will gain insights to help identify and support autistic girls and young women earlier – ensuring their needs are recognised and understood.
Please note: Due to the sensitive and confidential nature of this training, sessions will not be recorded.
