Understanding and supporting behaviour through a developmental trauma lens

Tuesday 2 February 2027 | 5-8pm (online via Zoom)

Delivered by Kids Inspire therapists, Elmira and Marcia

For children and young people who have experienced developmental trauma, behaviour can be a vital form of communication – signalling distress, unmet needs, or a call for connection.

Who is this training for?

This training is designed for professionals working with neurodivergent children and young people in a range of settings, including schools, health, social care, voluntary sector and therapeutic services.

It is intended for those supporting children and young people in any professional capacity.

What you’ll learn

  • How the age when the trauma occurred can shape a child’s behaviour which may not be the same as their chronological age
  • The importance of recognising behaviour as communication, not ‘poor/bad behaviour’
  • Using psychoeducation and the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics (NMT©) to guide interventions which are best suited to support children with this complex presentation
  • Practical tools for understanding what a child may be seeking through their actions and interventions which are supportive
  • Ideas for supporting a whole class, regardless of their backgrounds, to start focused and ready to learn

Ideal for anyone working with children of all ages.

Please note: Due to the sensitive and confidential nature of this training, sessions will not be recorded.
