Family-friendly hedgerow planting at Linley Bank Meadows - 25th February

Fancy getting outside with the kids and helping nature on your doorstep? Come along to our free event for families, planting new hedgerow at Linley Bank Meadows in Sheffield. Organised by Kids Plant Trees, in partnership with Sheffield City Council's community forestry team.

When: Sunday 25th February - 3 x 1-hour sessions starting at 10am, 11.30am and 1.30pm (please select the session you want to attend when booking)

What: Tree planting, refreshments, nature-based activity for children 

Families can have a go at planting a few young trees together, guided by our tree expert, Tim Shortland. All equipment will be provided. Please wear suitable clothing for staying warm, and in case of wet weather.

Refreshments provided (hot and cold drinks, and biscuits) but please bring lunch if you feel you need to. Please bring a reusable cup for drinks if you can.

Why are we planting new hedgerow? Hedgerows provide a vital food source for invertebrates, birds and mammals, create corridors between areas that wildlife can travel along in relative safety, and are important for nesting animals. The hedgerow will also protect the areas of meadow that have already been established, which are another vital habitat for a wide range of animals.

There is plenty of car parking on site but you can also get here by bus - the 7 and 30 buses from the city centre both stop just by the entrance on Beighton Road.

Accessibility: Please note, the site may not be suitable for wheelchairs or pushchairs, unless you have all-terrain equipment.

Booking: This is a FREE event but donations welcome. Please book a ticket for everyone attending, including children. If you book tickets but are then unable to attend, please let us know so that we can reissue the tickets and prepare adequate refreshments.
