Mini orchard tree planting at Locke Park, Barnsley
Fancy getting outside with the kids and helping nature on your doorstep? Come along to our FREE event and plant some fruit trees at Locke Park, Barnsley on Sunday 2nd March.
Drop in anytime between 11am-1pm. As well as planting a fruit tree, you can explore the site with our tree treasure hunt, pot up your own acorn to take home and grow, and play some tree games!
Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
This event is organised by Kids Plant Trees, in partnership with Barnsley Council and kindly funded by South Yorkshire Woodland Partnership.
What you'll need:
Please wear suitable clothing for staying warm, and possible wet weather. We strongly advise wearing sturdy, waterproof shoes such as walking boots or wellies.
All equipment will be provided.
Refreshments provided - hot and cold drinks, and biscuits. Please bring a reusable cup for drinks if you can.

By car - The park is just off the A6133. There is an on-site car park off Keresforth Hall Rd (see Google map), with some street parking nearby.
By bus - 22c/33 bus from Barnsley Interchange - see route on Google maps

There is a cafe with accessible toilet on site, close to the planting location.

Please note, we are planting trees on a grassy area, which may be uneven, and also wet and muddy depending on the weather. Please let us know when you book if you have any access requirements.
We want everyone to feel welcome at our events and have experience of working with children with special needs. If you want to discuss anything with us before the event, please let us know when you book.
If anyone in your family/group needs an interpreter, please let us know when you book.
Children's University:
If your child's school is registered with the Children's University, your child can collect credits at this event. Just bring their CU passport with you.
Booking:
This is a FREE event but please book a ticket for everyone attending, including children (except babes in arms). If you book tickets but are then unable to attend, please email us at admin@kidsplanttrees.org to let us know, so we can reissue the tickets. If you would like to make a small donation to support our work, you can do this at time of booking or at the event (thank you).
