Community tree planting in Lacewood, Barnsley
We're inviting families and the local community to get involved in this tree planting event on the field off Carr Head Lane, next to Lacewood School, in Barnsley.
We're planting whips (baby trees) and fruit trees to create a more exciting green space for people and wildlife.
We have all the equipment and experience to show you how to plant a tree. Just come along and give it a go!
Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
This event is organised by Kids Plant Trees, in partnership with Barnsley Council and kindly funded by BIFFA.
What you'll need:
Please wear suitable clothing for staying warm, and possible wet weather. We strongly advise wearing sturdy, waterproof shoes such as walking boots or wellies.
All equipment will be provided including gloves and spades. Please bring a drink.

By car - There is some on street parking on Carr Head Lane and in the surrounding area.
By bus - 217 bus from Barnsley Interchange getting off at Billingley View/Fairfield and walking towards Lacewood Primary School on Carr Head Lane - see route on Google Maps here
Accessibility & facilities:
Please note there are no public toilets on this site. There is an accessible toilet at Asda Goldthorpe (approx. 5 mins by car).
We are planting trees on a grassy area, which may be uneven, and also wet and muddy depending on the weather. Please let us know when you book if you have any access requirements.
We want everyone to feel welcome at our events and we have experience of working with children with special needs. If you want to discuss anything with us before the event, please let us know when you book.
If anyone in your family/group needs an interpreter, please let us know when you book.
Children's University:
If your child's school is registered with the Children's University, your child can collect credits at this event. Just bring their CU passport with you.
Booking:
This is a free event but we ask that you book a ticket for everyone attending, including children, so we can bring enough refreshments. We welcome any donations to support our community and school projects, helping children and nature to thrive together. Thank you.
