'This is not a Cookbook' - Roxana Manouchehri with Razan Ibraheem

'This is not a cookbook' by Roxana Manouchehri blends memoir with food writing alongside evocative lithographic artwork. The vignettes in the book chronicle Manouchehri’s childhood growing up in Tehran in the 80s following the Iranian Revolution, the profound influence of the women who surrounded her, and the legacy of memories handed down during wartime. Publication will include pocket postcard recipes alongside a selection of Manouchehri’s artwork to create a unique, collectible artist’s book. Given the times we are living in, the book is a poignant commentary on the importance of nurturing peace and community in these times of ongoing conflict and instability, particularly in the Middle East. 'This is not a cookbook' emerges from a wholly unique voice in Irish publishing, joining the ranks of contemporary diasporic Iranian writers searching for community and belonging in an elusive past.
