In a short span of time, prolific writer Wayne Byrne has authored a series of books which have been released to high acclaim as among the best literary works available on Cinema culture. Published by the likes of Columbia University Press, McFarland Books, Wallflower Press, and Equinox Publishing, Byrne’s bibliography includes The Cinema of Tom DiCillo: Include Me Out (2018), Burt Reynolds on Screen (2019), the award-winning Nick McLean Behind the Camera: The Life and Works of a Hollywood Cinematographer (2020), and the #1 best-seller Welcome to Elm Street: Inside the Film and Television Nightmares (2022). For his debut Kildare Readers Festival appearance, Byrne will be interviewed by author and screenwriter Lindsay J. Sedgwick.
Wayne Byrne is an author who has published five books on film history, including The Cinema of Tom DiCillo, Burt Reynolds on Screen, Nick McLean Behind the Camera, and Welcome to Elm Street. He is a former journalist for Ireland’s iconic Hot Press magazine and has written for the likes of The Irish Times, Film Ireland, and Books Ireland. He is anticipating the release of two new books, Walter Hill: The Cinema of a Hollywood Maverick and Hired Guns: Women of the Road and on Record in Alternative Music (co-written with Amanda Kramer, keyboardist/vocalist of The Psychedelic Furs, Siouxsie Sioux, 10,000 Maniacs, World Party).
