“The science-based workbook offers a step-by-step approach to breaking free of harsh self-judgements and impossible standards in order to cultivate emotional well-being.”
Kristin Neff and Christopher Germer
The book club is not teaching the programme. Rather it is an opportunity for you to delve into each chapter, uncover your own realisations and discuss your experience. Through your own learning and evaluation, you can nurture and develop your mindfulness and compassionate awareness. It provides a ‘safe container’ to begin your MSC journey.
You can be a graduate of the MSC programme or completely new to the material. Either way, we will encourage you to enjoy the material with ‘fresh eyes and a beginners mind!’ No previous experience is required for you to be part of the book club conversation; simply a willingness to assign a little time each week for reading and reflecting.
The Kind Mind Academy book club is guided by two experienced and qualified Mindful Self-Compassion teachers Kathryn Lovewell and Liz Walker, trained by the Centre of Mindful Self-Compassion (CMSC). Both are passionate about MSC and keen to share the life-transforming message with the world. Together they have introduced MSC to teachers, school leaders and support staff; counsellors, directors of nursing, victims of domestic violence, business groups and community leaders. They have been teaching MSC passionately and consistently since 2016.
“Through self-compassion we become an inner ally instead of an inner enemy”
The Mindful Self-Compassion Workbook is a wonderful vehicle to introduce you to MSC when you may not want or be able to attend the eight-week or 5-day intensive programme face to face. If you are an MSC graduate The Mindful Self-Compassion Workbook is ideal as a refresher.
The book club is intended to offer a warm and welcoming environment to anyone who is interested in learning about Mindful Self-Compassion. You can join the book club conversation whether you have experienced the full training, attended an introduction to MSC or if you are completely new to the content.
Kind Mind Academy Online Book Club serves to bring a supportive embrace to exploring the material within the workbook so that you can enjoy the journey with the reassurance that you are not alone in your exploration. You can be part of the conversation as you learn the content and have the opportunity to share your experiences to deepen your understanding – all in the comfort of your own home!
Belonging to this club means you will be part of a caring, learning community that is travelling alongside you as you discover the wealth of mindful and compassion teachings in the book.
We warmly invite you to join us on this exciting adventure into the world of Mindful Self-Compassion. It will be the beginning of a life-long voyage to make friends with a very precious person (yourself) and assist you in moving towards a kinder life inside your own head!
