Johan Yardan
An NY to NC transplant, Johan’s style of driving techno blends tribal rhythms with evocative melodies and urban groove. Growing up in a “melting pot” had a profound effect on his style; the energy of Afro-Caribbean and Latin block parties that punctuated summer days stand out in every set. His goal is not to play the music you like, but to play the music you didn’t know you liked. He strives for perfection in every track, balancing unrelenting momentum with thought provoking atmosphere.
Surprisingly, he had no connection nor knowledge of the underground music scene in Durham, NC until attending a techno rave organized by Subtek Music in 2018. In the years that followed he's formed enduring friendships with community members and refined his signature style of driving, ethereal techno.
He's had the opportunity to play and collaborate with incredible local creators and watch the scene grow and diversify, even as it weathered the pandemic. When not collaborating with groups like Dancegruv where he hosts his radio show “Abyss Sessions”, he manages his own promotion “Kinetic Audio” bringing raw, cutting-edge techno soundscapes to the Durham underground.

BURIDAN
This Raleigh-Based DJ/Producer has been making his way into the international techno scene over the past few years. With releases on We Are The Brave, Tronic, and Apex Faction, his music has gained support from techno giants like Alan Fitzpatrick, Christian Smith, Pan-Pot, Rebuke & more. Last summer he released the genre-bending single “It Happened Just Once” which now has three well-received remixes out on Apex Faction and support from the king himself, Adam Beyer. Expect to hear some heavy hitting, raw, and moving tunes coming from Buridan!
In his own words:
"I was born and raised in Raleigh and have always been a lover of electronic music. I started experimenting with my first synthesizer in high school when I was heavy into bands like Pink Floyd and Talking heads. Years later when I fell in love with the 4x4 beat, it was artists like Dusky, Shadow Child, & Disclosure that started shaping my soulful house addiction, which I try to carry through into my techno productions along with influences from darker electronic acts like Moderat. I’ve been DJing in Raleigh for over 10 years but was finally able to bring my production alias and vision as Buridan to life during the pandemic."
Marshall Jones
Marshall Jones started in mid-1999 out of Gotham Nightclub in Chapel Hill, NC during the rave era. His vast knowledge and skills in the DJ booth earned an internship with Ovum Records. 2 years later, he moved to Orlando to attend college at Full Sail University. Completing his internship at Ovum, he was personally recommended to intern at Chicago-based Large Music. His work as a promoter for Large Music led to him being considered Jeff Craven's (CEO of Large Music) right-hand man. Working with major labels, artists, and the world-famous Traxsource online music store, he also assisted in running Large Music's legendary WMC event entitled "Get Large". Ever the professional, Marshall performed superbly while hosting events and maintaining residencies in Orlando. His skills, dedication, and knowledge gained him notoriety in the Central Florida community.
In 2007, Jeff Craven proposed Marshall move to Chicago and work directly with him. During this time, Marshall began learning from legendary producers and DJs such as Roy Davis Jr., Mark Grant, Andre Harris, Jask, Julius The Mad Thinker, and more. He made a name for himself in "The Windy City" by playing gigs with the major artists at famous venues like Smartbar and Crobar. He was even able to start a monthly with friends Don Clark and Mayra Neria at Morseland Bar, Chicago. In addition, he played on UIC’s college radio and guest spots on Vocalo.org.
Moving back to Durham, NC in 2009 he linked up with long-time friend DJ Nugz, founding Sound Cartel. The result of their collaboration was "Sultry" at Mosaic Wine Lounge in Raleigh, NC. Hosting globally acclaimed DJ's, "Sultry" was considered one of the longest running deep and soulful house nights in the triangle.
Always at work, Marshall DJ's nationally and internationally at events like Mi Casa Holiday, West Coast Weekender, and MoogFest. He's the Founder of "DanceGruv Radio", a global radio station which features 65 DJs from all over the world. It has gained swift notoriety amongst many in the dance music community. He continues to thrive and push himself with his team to make NC known as a place where House Music lives. In his own words, "The thing I love about House music is the fact that I am not a part of a scene, but more of a movement.
